Creative director, writer and founder of Studio Palha
Zinzi de Brouwer (she/her) is a Creative Director, Writer, and founder of Studio Palha, an equity-centred community design studio in which matriarchal-led artisans take the central stage in bridging craft and design to innovative fashion narratives that foster solidarity, healing, and well-being. Her work has been featured in magazines from VIEWPOINT to Vogue, as well as having her work divulged through platforms such as Framer Framed and Het Nieuwe Institute Museum, and Buckingham Palace. She links academia, industry, and creative practitioners to foster social and environmental justice with in-depth embodied research and experience with Native and Indigenous practices and communities. She co-founded Stories of Near in 2015, the first trend-forecasting studio dedicated to the African continent as part of the global map. In 2021, she joined the Amsterdam Fashion Institute as Head of Society & Context and Head of Design, pushing forth the agenda of transformative educational systems through radically inclusive approaches. Her research and practice are focused on looking through the fashion and textile lens to radically imagine new design solutions that centre on reparative and restorative justice through decolonisation.
