Artist and activist. Creator of the Concept of “Modativismo”, Professor in the Department of Gender and Feminist Studies at the Federal University of Bahia

Professor Dr. Carol Barreto is an artist, curator, activist, and professor in the Department of Gender and Feminist Studies at UFBA. She is the creator of the concept of Modativismo, which merges fashion and political activism. Her research and creations address themes such as race, gender, and ancestry. She is the author of the book ‘Modativismo: quando a moda encontra a luta' (Editora Paralela – São Paulo, 2024). Recognized for using clothing as a tool for social transformation, Carol has exhibited her work in several countries and is an important voice in discussions on aesthetics and resistance.
